Community Service Kickoff! 🌟

Our Middle School and High School advisory groups spent the first day of school building community both inside and outside our school walls!

Students spent the day with their advisors in their school advisory groups, building strong relationships while giving back to the community that supports us every day.

Here is how our students showed their Big Red pride in action:

>>Campus & Town Cleanups: Cleaned, picked up trash & weeds around the school grounds, local parks, and along Main Street. Cleaned the Booster Club Concession Stand at the Football Field.

>>Community Center & Public Safety Support: Cleaned and picked up at the Rialto Theater and the Rand Community Center, and spent time painting and cleaning at the local fire station.

>>Local Beautification: Weeded the Missouri Valley welcome sign area and picked up around the Harrison County Welcome Center.

>>Assisted at Trivium

Thank you to our students, staff, and community partners for making Day 1 so meaningful! 🎒❤

They took time from their busy schedules to serve breakfast to staff during our Welcome Back Breakfast. It was a wonderful way to start the school year together!

We had the opportunity to welcome many of our incoming 6th graders to 6th Grade Training Camp!🎒

Students spent time learning the ins and outs of middle school, getting familiar with their new surroundings, and preparing for the year ahead.

We hope our 6th graders had a great time, and we wish all of our students a fantastic school year! ⭐️

Dear Big Reds and Lady Reds Community,

We want to take a moment to explain an upcoming change regarding how our and WIC athletic events are streamed online.

For the past few years, we have been fortunate to provide live streaming of our home athletic events at no cost to our viewers. We know that families, grandparents, alumni, and community members have appreciated having the ability to watch our students compete when they could not attend in person. Beginning this school year, there will be a charge associated with watching our athletic events online.

So, why the change?

The reality is that there are significant costs associated with providing athletic events, whether you are watching them from the stands or watching from home.

When you attend an event in person, our community is accustomed to paying an admission fee. Those admission dollars help offset the many expenses associated with hosting athletic contests, including officials, coaches, event personnel, facilities, equipment, and other costs necessary to provide these opportunities for our students.

Online streaming has also become an important part of how our community follows Big Reds and Lady Reds activities. However, providing a quality streaming experience requires equipment, technology, subscriptions, internet services, and personnel. As those costs continue to increase, it is no longer sustainable for the district to absorb the entire expense of providing streaming at no cost to viewers.

This is not a decision we made simply to generate additional revenue.

It is a decision being made to help offset the growing costs of providing the service and to allow us to continue offering our community the opportunity to watch our students compete from wherever they may be.

We understand that this is a change, particularly for those who have become accustomed to watching our events online for free. We also understand that some families and community members may not be able to attend every event in person, which is why we value the ability to provide a streaming option.

Our goal is to continue offering quality, accessible coverage of Big Reds and Lady Reds activities while being responsible stewards of district resources.

The Western Iowa Conference will also be utilizing a conference streaming pass for the 2026–27 school year. The WIC information lists a $20 conference pass for all 2026–27 WIC events, as well as a $7 individual game/match option.

We appreciate your understanding as we make this transition. Whether you purchase a ticket and cheer from the stands or tune in from home, your support matters to our students and our programs.

Thank you for continuing to support our Big Reds and Lady Reds and for helping us provide opportunities for our students to compete, grow, and represent our school and community with pride.
