April 2nd, a day the world recognizes and promotes understanding and support for individuals with the diagnosis of autism. April is the month we bring awareness to the forefront of all the noise in the world.

For families, April is a month that they can feel seen and heard. Every other month of the year, autism remains a way of life. Autism is more than a diagnosis. Every diagnosis has a person trying to understand a world that isn’t always comfortable for them.

In April, the world promotes helping make this world more accessible, equal, and inclusive for our neurodiverse brothers and sisters. Let’s use April to learn and continue the spread of education into our communities every day and every month.

Speech therapy can sometimes be surprising when parents witness a session and realize that therapy is not a typical school classroom.

First, SLPs need to connect with your child. We work hard to build trust and respect to help the child feel happy and safe in the learning environment.

At Kasa Blanca Speech, we believe the saying that "Play is a child's work." Play is the word we use to replace the word work but have no doubt, playing is hard work. When our patients come to play, they work hard to learn how to communicate with others.
