💙💛 Wishing Officer Cameron the best as he begins his next chapter!

We’d like to take a moment to recognize Officer C. Cameron as he begins a temporary leave from the Missoula Police Department to attend basic training with the Navy Reserve.

During his time as the School Resource Officer at Big Sky High School, Officer Cameron has become a valued part of our school community. Through his daily interactions with students, staff, families, and administrators, he has built positive relationships and represented the Missoula Police Department with professionalism, dedication, and a genuine commitment to our students.

While Officer Cameron is away, we will have Officer Nico Graham for SRO coverage to support Big Sky High School and our school community.

Please join us in wishing Officer Cameron a safe and successful training experience! We appreciate his continued commitment to service and look forward to welcoming him back to Big Sky when he returns. 🇺🇸

Thank you for all you do, Officer Cameron! 💙💛

This morning, Chief Judge James Boasberg of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia visited with our 2nd-period IB History of the Americas class. He spoke with students about the differences between state and federal courts, civil and criminal proceedings, and the role of the judicial branch.

He also allowed students to ask questions, which ranged from some of the high-profile cases he has ruled on to his time serving on the United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. He shared advice for students interested in pursuing careers in the legal field and gave them a better understanding of the role judges play in our judicial system.

We were the only high school class he visited during his time in Missoula. His visit was sponsored by the Mike and Maureen Mansfield Center, as he gave a public talk yesterday, and he also visited law classes.

This was such an honor and a wonderful opportunity for our students here in Missoula to meet and speak directly with someone who holds an important position within our current judicial system. Experiences like this allow students to connect what they learn in the classroom to the people and institutions that shape our government and legal system. This is some of the best kind of civic engagement.
