Several of our amazing Missoula community partners have come together once again to support MCPS students! ❤️

Altruist, Frolic, and other local stylists have graciously donated their time and talents to provide hair services for students at Franklin and TEACH before the 2026–2027 school year.

They had more stylists show up than anticipated, so this generous offer is now being extended to Russell families! 🎉

Walk-ins are welcome and will be available until 1:00 PM TODAY at Franklin Elementary.

A huge thank-you to these incredible community partners for their kindness, generosity, and care for our students and families and to Franklin Elementary for their community support. We are so grateful for a community that continues to show up for our kids!

7th graders need their Tdap booster before school starts.

K-8 look for a back-to-school event at your school August 24 or 25.
Kinder, 6th, 9th start on August 26.
Grades 1-12 begin regular school days on August 27.
Trailblazers and Kindergarteners have a half day on August 28.
All students attend full days starting August 31.

Join us at EmPower Place on Wednesday, August 19th from 10am-1pm for our annual Back to School Bash. We will have new school supplies, used clothing, sack lunches for kiddos, and partner organizations coming in to share other awesome resources, like vaccinations and vision screenings.

You do not need to sign up in advance, just pop by.

We are so excited to nourish community through this event, but I know not everyone can make it and supplies are limited. There are a lot of other places to get school supplies and other needs as the new school year draws near. Feel free to post other resources and events in the comments. By working together, we can make sure every child has their needs met. Thank you!

EmPower Place is located at 1720 Wyoming St in Missoula next to Missoula Food Bank & Community Center.

The back to school anticipation is in the air! We are getting ready and excited to welcome back our amazing Russell Bears!

Hey Parents! Plan ahead for after school care for K-5 and activities for middle schoolers. During the school year, MCPS partners with Missoula Parks and Recreation, Missoula Family YMCA, and Boys & Girls Club of Missoula County to keep kids active and engaged while parents finish the work day.

Programs vary between schools. Contact providers directly for more information.

Note: Parks & Recreation program registration begins on August 2.

The free summer meals program continues at Lowell, Russell, Franklin & Meadow Hill. Breakfast 8-10:30am, Lunch 11am-1pm. All children up to age 18 eat for free.
