Welcome to St. Joseph Elementary and Middle School, where tradition meets excellence.

Founded in 1874, we're the oldest Catholic elementary school in Western Montana, dedicated to fostering academic achievement within a nurturing Catholic environment.

Loyola AP Chem students spent time with our 5th graders to help them create science fair projects. 5th graders presented their finished projects to other classes and parents earlier this week. We love partnerships like this between our elementary and high school students!

7th grade had an incredible day on campus at the University of Montana a few weeks ago! 🐻 Students experienced hands-on learning through finance classes, coding with AI, Montana World Trade and Economics activities, and even had the opportunity to pitch presentations to faculty and compete for prizes. 🏅

A special thank you to Isho Tama-Sweet for organizing such a meaningful and memorable experience for our students!

The only downside? The rainy walk back to school! ☔️

That's a wrap on Middle School Track! St. Joe's had 51 6th-8th grade students participate in track this season. 24 of those athletes qualified for the Meet of Champions!

A big thank you to the many coaches and parents that volunteered their time to make this season possible!

One minute they’re walking into Kindergarten… and the next they’re walking out as 8th graders. 💙🎓

This video is such a special reminder of just how quickly the years go by and how much these students have grown along the way. From little backpacks to big dreams, we are so proud of the Class of 2026. ✨

“Good times go by too fast” feels especially true for this one!

St. Joe's enjoyed a sunny Field Day last Friday! Students participated in many fun stations and games throughout the afternoon. Thanks to Mr. DeGroot and Mrs. Reardon for organizing the event!

A special project bringing together our 8th graders and Kindergarten students is almost here… 💙🎥

These kids had so much fun working together, and we can’t wait to share the final video with our school community soon. Keep an eye out! ✨

St. Joe's is bringing Tackle Football back! It's been over 10 years since we've had a football program at our middle school. Thanks to some generous donors and the enthusiasm of 27 middle schoolers, we are able to start the program again for the 2026/27 school year.

This week, our incoming 6th-8th grade players had a fun pizza lunch where they got to meet their coaches and get fitted for brand new gear. This is such an exciting addition to our sports programming at St. Joe's! Go RAMS!!🐏🏈💙

A gorgeous day at Fort Missoula with our 8th graders learning about WWII history and the internment camps located right here in Missoula. 🇺🇸☀️

Students explored exhibits, heard powerful stories, and reflected on the importance of remembering history and learning from it.

Thank you Sentinel Kiwanis Club of Missoula for everything you do to support our SJS students!

What a great way to wrap up the school year! 🍕

Sentinel Kiwanis was proud to host an end-of-the-year pizza party for the amazing students of the St. Joseph School Builders Club. We celebrated a year of service, leadership, and community involvement - and recognized 8 outstanding students who are moving on to high school this fall. 🎓

We're excited to see these future leaders continue their service journey through Key Club and beyond. Congratulations to all of the Builders Club members on a fantastic year! 👏🏻

Many thanks to our fab SLP Chair, Gayle Hudgins and SJS advisors Tiffani Swanson, Michelle McCue and Mike McCue. The MOST thanks to SJS educator and super star advisor, Angie McGill. 🎉
