At today's meeting we will be electing this years new board members! If you are interested in being on the board this year join us and tell everyone why you'd make a great board member. We will be providing pizza to fuel your decision making!
Board postitions are:

President: The face of the group, you lead meetings and ensure that the board is operating to the best of it's ability and in line with what the mission statement is and on behalf of general members.

Vice President: Aid to the President and acts in the place of the President should the President not be able to attend or adequately perform their duties.

Secretary: Take notes at board meetings, make lists of tasks to be completed and ensures that members know what their tasks are, checks the Lambda email.

Treasure: Keeps the board apprised of the financials, reports financials at board meetings, keeps a list of funds and where funds are to be spent, advises in spending of money, fills out ASUM budgeting form in the spring.

Outreach Director: Keeps in contact with other student groups on working together, reaches out to groups, students, professors, admin regarding working with Lambda. Works to create interest in Lambda events and coordinates projects.

Media Marketing Director: Creates advertising for Lambda and it's events, monitors and posts on the fb group and page.

Members at Large: Attend board meetings, assist in any projects that they can help with. This is a position for those who want to get involved with less time and responsibility commitment. This is a great position for those who want to learn what it means to be on a board or to shadow a board position you would be interested in taking on at a later date. Members at Large can choose to shadow a specific board position and assist that board member with tasks if they wish.

If anyone has any questions on board positions we will be more than happy to answer them tonight at our meeting.

Hope to see you all there!

12 Transgender People React to Trump Taking Away Their Civil Rights 03/01/2017

A big thank you for Cris Barton for sharing their experience and words with Teen Vogue!

"Denying transgender individuals the right to use the public restroom facilities that best match our gender identity is a disheartening attack on our ability to participate within society. While access to the correct restroom may seem like a minor issue to cisgender individuals, it can often be a problem that defines the daily lives of trans individuals. If there is no safe access to public restrooms, we are often forced to structure our day so we don't need to use public facilities. When this is not possible, we must face threats of verbal harassment or physical harm just for entering the bathroom. The fear of assaults in bathrooms is real, but trans individuals are the victims, not the offenders. Repealing the guidelines means every time we go to school or work we must live with this fear, and I don't want to live in fear any longer." — Cris (pronouns: they/them), 26, University of Montana

Trans students deserve to learn free from violence & harassment. And we won’t stop fighting until it happens.
