Learn about our Primitive Reflex Foundations resource here: https://yourkidstable.com/prf/ There are 8 major primitive reflexes that should go dormant in infancy… but sometimes don’t. When they’re still “active,” they can contribute to: -Sensory sensitivities -ADHD and focus challenges -Emotional reactivity -Anxiety -Behavior that “doesn’t make sense” -Handwriting and posture struggles The “rooting” reflex isn’t talked about much, but it can have a big impact on your child’s eating, attention, and sensory processing. But there’s hope, because even if retained reflexes are to blame for some of your child’s difficulties, you can “integrate” them, or make them go dormant like they should, at any age through specific movement and exercises. Even if reflexes aren’t your child’s main challenge, these movements still build regulation, attention, coordination, and brain-body connection. Inside Primitive Reflex Foundations you learn how to integrate each of the 8 reflexes from a play based approach, as well as a defined protocol of exercises. Comment “STNR” to learn more about the signs that come with a retained STNR reflex and to also check out a simple test to know if it’s retained. You don’t always have to test your child or students to know if an STNR reflex is retained. Many of the following signs point to retention if the child struggles with: 🤔Attention and Focus (ADHD-like symptoms) 🤔Poor posture and struggles to stay seated ​​🤔Low muscle tone and prefers to slouch back in chair or lie on desk 🤔Prefers to lie on their tummy when watching TV, reading books or doing homework 🤔Wraps legs around chair to stabilize body and keep them from fidgeting These are just a few signs you may see with a retained STNR. Try a few of these supportive activities to assist integration when doing retained reflexes exercises.
