Entertainment Management at The University of Montana

NEW DATE SAME EXCITEMENT THIS SUNDAY - join us in the 3rd floor UC Ballroom on campus 5PM-9PM for a night full of amazing free music!! The 403 Principles of Entertainment Management class will be putting on this event as their second project for the semester. A FREE concert featuring Jaden Decker as our headliner, with DJ IvanOff, Eucalyptus, and Texas Tom supporting! The weather tried to cancel us but we weren’t about to let that happen! Come see for yourself what all the anticipation has been about!!

Hey guys, unfortunately due to the weather we made the difficult decision to postpone the event. However, we have locked down the new date of Sunday, May 5th and as far as right now the weather is supposed to be 70 and sunny, which would eliminate all issues we have faced for today. We want this event to be fun and safe for all attendees and the artists, so we are excited to move forward with May 5th and deliver an incredible event. Stay tuned for more updates and spread the word!! Thank you for your understanding, we will see you May 5th!!!

The 403 Principles of Entertainment Management II class is partnering with to bring you this year’s first Brew Games at the Garden City BrewFest!! Come join us on May 4th at Caras Park, for a day of bag tossin’ and prizes! Enter the tournament today or come day-of and participate in our long-shot portion - or to watch the friendly competition! The UMEM student group has collectively decided that it would be best to cancel this event due to contractual problems and snags at every step of the way.

We are choosing to do this because we want our events to be memorable and blow people out of the water. We don’t want anyone to have a bad experience or for any t’s to go uncrossed or i’s undotted. As a student group here at the University of Montana, we want to set the bar high, and in order to do this we want to ensure we only deliver events we are confident will be successful, not only for us but for all those attending. While there were many hiccups with the planning of this event, there is no blame on anyone. We plan to bring back something like this next year at a different time where it can reach its full potential.

Thank you for your understanding, and thank you to all those who have helped us get to this point.

With all that said, we hope to plan full steam ahead for our spring event! So please take this as an opportunity to get excited for that!

Last month, the UMEM Student Group had the chance to visit Los Angeles for a full week to attend Pollstar Live!

Nine of our students got to go on this incredible trip and gain real knowledge of the entertainment industry. They made business cards and resumes in each weekly meeting before the trip, and while at Pollstar, they worked with Show Imaging to build the main stage!

Massive thanks go out to Steve and Tracie from Show Imaging - without their support, we wouldn't have been able to go on such an incredible trip! ❤️

They were given opportunities to speak with industry professionals, from creative directors to promoters to event organizers, and all nine students left the trip with a job offer and plenty of new opportunities.

Kaitlin, Payton, Maddie, Maddy, Marley, Carly, Jack, Sarah, and Emily all attended the trip under the supervision of Dr. Andrea Luoma, our UMEM director. We can't wait for next year!

After a few months out of the office, we're back! The UMEM department is back in full swing, along with classes and our student groups!

We are currently setting up our first official meeting for the UMEM Student Group in several years, and we hope that you can attend!

We will discuss the future trajectory of the group, upcoming conferences that UMEM students can attend as a group, and potential events we can host in the spring.

We will meet in Room L02 - the UMEM Office - on October 27th at 5:00 PM. Hope to see you there!

Thanks to University of Montana Admissions, Switchback Records is able to host the first ever Weary Traveler's Music Festival! This event is in partnership with the Montana Area Music Association
to raise money for Missoula Gives! There is no ticket necessary, but you are welcome to donate to MAMA at this event!
