UM College of the Arts and Media

UM College of the Arts and Media The creative heartbeat of Montana and the northern Rocky Mountains. Visual and media art, game design, music, theatre, dance, journalism & more.

Preparing the next generation of artists, thinkers & writers to delight and enlighten. Welcome to the College of the Arts and Media at the University of Montana. As the flagship university for the arts in our state, we offer both liberal arts and professional accredited degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Comprised of the Schools of Art, Journalism, Media Arts, Music, and Theatre and Dance. We are home to the Montana Repertory Theatre, the Buddy DeFranco Jazz Festival, and the Gallery of Visual Arts. The arts play a unique role in our human conversation. The arts teach us how to listen, how to hone our powers of observation, how to work together, how to account for time and space, and how to make critical choices based on historical context, practical experience, and the interpretation of ideas. The arts teach us to interact with texts and materials, with our bodies, our emotions, with nature, with the familiar and the unknown, and most significantly, with each other. You are invited you to experience and explore all the creative possibilities that emanate from the College of the Arts and Media. You will emerge transformed both as a person, a story-teller, and an artist.
