Everyone say hello to Momo! š¾
Our newest (and possibly fluffiest) member of the Namchak Retreat Ranch team has officially arrived, and sheās already taking her role as livestock guardian very seriously⦠by supervising chores, exploring every inch of the ranch, and winning over absolutely everyone she meets.
Livestock guardian dogs help protect animals and maintain balance on the land, becoming part of the ecosystem they care for. Momo still has lots to learn, but sheās off to a very cute start.
We have a feeling this wonāt be the last time you see her around our Instagram page. š¤

Join us for a free dharma talk on going for refuge with Namchak teacher Jetsunma Jamyang Yeshe Palmo.
Going for Refuge is a commitment to taking the Buddha as oneās teacher, the Dharma as oneās path, and the Sangha as oneās companions. Refuge is considered the foundation of the Buddhist path, and the ritual of formally going for refuge is the way one becomes a Buddhist. This commitment can serve as a significant source of stability and focus by honing in on one specific path in a world of nearly infinite options in the modern spiritual marketplace.
Link to sign up below! The event will be held online via Zoom and in person at Sacred Ally on June 9 from 6:00 -7:30 PM MT.

Human nature bids us to take refuge in things that bring us comfort. We seek happiness and ease from other people, activities, things, and ideas. We keep entertainment within fingertip reach to free ourselves from boredom, providing distractions for our minds by inundating them with a never-ending deluge of information. We constantly seek contentment outside ourselves, and who can blame us? We can connect with people, information, and ideas faster than ever before, and at the end of the day, we're only human.
But what happens when worldly pursuits no longer provide the comfort or distraction they once did?

Our own spiritual progress is greatly enhanced by the power of that motivation of love and compassionā¦and following through with action. The Four Noble Truths are the first teachings the Buddha gave after his enlightenment and serve as the foundation of the path. They teach us how and why we suffer, that there is a state of complete freedom from suffering, and how to achieve it.
To overcome suffering, we first need to acknowledge it in all its subtle and coarse forms. We then need to see how and why that suffering exists, for if we are to stop the cycle of suffering, we must stop creating its causes. To stop creating its causes, we must understand the nature of reality and the path to fully embodying it. To even begin on this path, we must recognize a state of freedom and wish to attain it. Join us for this special opportunity to connect with Namchak Khen Rinpoche, who will serve as our compassionate guide for this teaching.

So how did the Buddha become the Buddha? Did you know that prior to becoming the Buddha, he was a prince named Siddhartha?
He knew that he wanted to always be happy and never suffer. He knew that everyone wanted to be happy and free from sufferingānot just for a moment but alwaysājust as he did. He also knew that our best efforts were not enough to make that happen.
How can we actually achieve lasting happiness? He resolved that he absolutely must find the answer, at all costs. He knew that to find that answer, he needed to see reality and the nature of the mind as it truly is. But how could he do that?
