The Big Sky Brain Project is funded by the National Institues of Health with the goal of fostering experiential neuroscience education for K-12 students. Created collaboratively by faculty from the University of Montana Neuroscience Center and the University's SpectrUM science museum, the project includes interactive exhibits and a working lab with hands-on neuroscience experiments. For the past 5 years, spectrUM and the Big Sky Brain Project’s Brain Zone has been supported by a grant from the National Institutes of Health. As this grant sunsets, we are celebrating our team’s role in inspiring the many thousands of budding neuroscientists who have explored hands-on brain activities and neuroscience career pathways at the museum’s Brain Lab and with spectrUM’s statewide mobile science program. Beginning in September, spectrUM will continue offering BrainLab activities from 2-5 pm during museum public hours.
