Watching this video gives me flashbacks. If you've built a boat or are thinking of one this is a good look at the process of building a "Modern" dinghy from a kit or not. Good stuff.

I decided to build a small sailboat inspired by the Legendary Captain Jack's dinghy from the Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. The boat is a Northeas...

Just got the personal renewal notice for the Traditional Small Craft Association. I don't know if you're aware but we're trying to form a chapter up here and joining the TSCA is a great way to help out with our Inland NW Chapter. And they still send out a physical magazine four times a year with some great small boat stories, fine illustrations and photographs. If you're a member please renew and if you're thinking of becoming a member 2026 is an excellent year to do so.

Kat Boat doesn't hit the water till June as a hard rule but that doesn't mean the change of weather doesn't affect the heart of a sailor. Even one trying to "Take a light year". Enjoy this film by Roger Barnes as we come out of the cold. If you are going to head out let us know. Living vicariously through other members is how we make it through the dark months.

What a winter it's been! But the mild temps mean hopefully a good summer is on the way. WMSBA is still here though. We have a very quiet schedule with only one event planned this year, that being an overnighter at Cedar Island out of Big Arm on Flathead Lake. Tentatively scheduled for a late August, early September time frame. But that's no excuse for you not to get out on the water in small boats! Kat Boat will be out a few times this year but nothing like the regularity of the last few. A good time to get some boat work in too. We'll look for you on the water, keep your eyes on this space.
