The NAS deparment provides a broad based liberal arts education with a focus on Indian Country issues.

Hello Friends at University of Montana,

The Native American Research Internship (NARI) is now accepting applications! Please consider sharing this opportunity with your students and networks.

About NARI:
NARI is an opportunity for Native American/Alaska Native undergraduates interested in precision medicine, biosciences or bioinformatics with a focus on research, including ethical, legal and social implications of Indigenous research. This is a PAID 10-week internship which includes University of Utah on-campus housing, travel expenses, and the opportunity to present a research poster at a national conference.

Program Highlights:
• Research: invest 40 hours a week conducting research and learning lab skills with an assigned near peer mentor.
• Academic Enrichment and Professional Development: learn how to write an abstract, analyze data, create research posters, and present research at an Undergraduate Research Symposium and a national conference.
• Connection: connect with your peers through events such as mentor lunches, circle of trust, cookouts, hiking, playing games, and attending concerts.
• Financial Support: $5,500 stipend, housing, and attendance at a national conference

Next week registration for Spring semester starts. Here is a class some may be interested in. it also counts as an Upper Division, if you need UD credits. NEUR110N Introduction to Brain Diseases. Is a class that usually has a wide range of students. There is no prerequisite for it and students seem to really enjoy understanding more about common brain disorders and neurological conditions.
