Hello Missoula!
Kid Central is a local non-profit. We were founded in 1996, with the goal of providing high-quality child care at an affordable rate. We have been located at 2200 Holborn for over 20 years. The building that has been our home for so long has recently been sold, and the new owners have informed us that we will not be able to remain in this location beyond the end of August 2026. This transition is significant for Kid Central, and we are actively seeking a new location that can accommodate our needs and allow us to continue serving families in our community.
Kid Central is governed by a board of directors that is composed of parents and community members. We are licensed by the Montana Department of Health and Human Services. We are also a voluntary participant in the CACFP food program and the Quality Recognition System (formerly STARS to Quality Program). These programs help guide Kid Central’s nutrition standards and supports us in maintaining a high standard of care.
Without securing a new space, many children in our community will lose their dedicated caregivers, and their families will be forced to seek care elsewhere. In addition, our team of caregivers, who have a combined 56 years of service to our organization, will be without jobs. This makes finding a suitable location especially urgent, for both the families that we serve and our staff.
Bare minimum, we need 525 square feet of usable space (bathrooms, kitchen, storage, etc., do not count as “usable space” and safe and fenced-in outdoor play space. Ideally, we would like to find something that has a decent kitchen, laundry hookups, 2+ toilets, heating and cooling, is single story and has outdoor space with accessible water.
