Hearty congratulations to our graduating German majors Charlie and Logan (pictured here) and Gabby. Charlie is looking forward to hopefully joining the Peace Corps to Senegal this fall, Logan - our outstanding senior in German - will be starting the MA program in Linguistics at UM this coming academic year, and Gabby will be on a prestigious Fulbright fellowship teaching English in Germany next year. Congrats too to our German minors Sophia, Joe, and Noah. Thanks, everyone, for all the excellent work and good times over the last few years. Wir wünschen euch alles Gute und viel Erfolg!

Liebe Freundinnen und Freunde des UM-Deutschprogramms: Frohen Valentinstag!
In Germany Valentine's Day still has an image something along the lines of a "Hallmark holiday". But that doesn't mean Germans are not romantic, so here is "I love you" in the different regions, and various dialects.
Who knows, they could come in useful one day.

Students, faculty, alums, and friends of UM German at tonight’s screening of Wings of Desire / Der Himmel über Berlin (Wim Wenders / Peter Handke, 1987.) Sold-out show part of the Roxy’s Greatest Films series. A film deserving to be featured in a program with that title!

Professor Marko with UM German alum, now Associate Professor of German and History at Montana State, Pete Schweppe at the Pacific Ancient and Modern Language Association Conference in San Francisco. The Griz and Cats may be rivals, but…our faculty love working with our friends and colleagues in German at MSU…whether they’re former Griz or not. 🙂
