Interested in joining the team? This is the meeting for you! Join us in the ADS atrium to learn all things MSU Equestrian. During this meeting you can meet our captains, learn what the team entails, and get signed up for tryouts. Tryouts will be Sept 8-11 depending on availability and interest. Bring a pen and come ready to learn about the team. If you are interested in trying out for the competing team please bring a printed copy of your show records. If you haven’t shown or haven’t shown in association shows, no worries!
IHSA has a division for everyone from those who have never ridden or competed before to those who have competed and won on the national stage, so don’t let lack of experience, or depth of experience deter you from coming and learning more about the team!

🌟 Introducing our 2026-2027 captains 🌟
🐾Wren Algee is one of our western captains and is a psychology major from Star, MS. Her favorite thing about the team has been the friendships made over the past 3 years. She says her teammates and coaches have become like family!
🐾Hayley Pettus is also one of our western captains and is a senior Animal and Dairy Sciences Major from Covington, Louisiana. Her favorite thing about the team is the sense of community and how supportive everyone is.
🐾Pammie Adam, one of our Hunt Seat captains, is a senior with a major in interdisciplinary studies, coming from Birmingham, AL. Her favorite thing besides the opportunity to ride some great horses is the quality time spent with awesome people! She loves the van rides and memories from show weekends.
🐾Sammy Michler, also a Hunt Seat captain, is a senior studying criminology. She is from Kennesaw, GA! Her favorite thing is the team dynamic and how everyone cheers everyone on and supports one another.
🐾Cassie Arnold is returning as a Genera Member Captain and is a senior majoring in human development and family science child life from Atlanta, GA! Her favorite thing about the team is being able to go out and love on horses and help with the events out at the horse unit.
🐾Reese Benson will also be leading our general members as a General Member Captain and is a junior Animal and Dairy Science major with a Production/Management concentration. Her favorite thing about the team is the community it forms!

Today marks the end of an era for the Mississippi State University Equestrian Team as it is our Head Coach, Ashley Glenn’s last day! Coach Glenn’s passion, commitment, work ethic, and sportsmanship have truly been a blessing to our team! Her “lead by example” mentality has impacted countless students and fellow coaches over the years. Whether it was preparing her own riders, lending a hand to opposing riders in need, or offering advice to fellow coaches, she has always been there ready to help. Her selflessness is evident to anyone who has met her or seen her in action!
Throughout her time at Mississippi State, she has continually set goals and set new achievements year after year. Notable achievements include fostering a full team on both the Western and Hunt Seat sides, building a program that went from hosting their first western show, to hosting their first Regional Championships, to hosting a third of the nation at the Western Semi-Finals Show. Under her leadership, Mississippi State’s individual riders continually performed better and better at post season competition, with this year culminating in an Individual Reserve National Champion and Mississippi State’s first ever Individual National Champion title! Alongside her individual riders, the team also continually performed better and better under each year of her coaching. From climbing in the regional rankings, to bringing home the Regional Title for the first time, to ending the season Fourth in the Nation, the Mississippi State team has become quite the force in the show pen.
Outside of the arena her impact isn’t as noticeable to the public, but has been most influential. During her time as Head Coach she served those around her as much more than a coach. She has been someone to look up to and a mentor to so many and made the Equestrian Team and equestrian community more accessible and accepting to anyone interested in learning. Her sportsmanship won her two National Coach Sportsmanship awards and her “lead by example” style lead the team to the first ever National Team Sportsmanship Award!
Her love of the industry and support for others will not be forgotten and the lessons she has taught and the legacy she leaves behind will live on at Mississippi State!
We wish her all the best in the next chapter of her life and know that we will always have her support!

Congratulations to our graduating seniors! We are so proud of your growth and accomplishments and are happy to have been a part of your story here at Mississippi State. Breana Souders - Move to FL and pursue a career in the equine industry.
Lillie Reid - Stay at MSU as she begins Vet School for her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.
Claudia Pouncey - Intern with GreenPoint Ag, then transition to a role as Jackson County Arkansas 4-H Agent.
Parker Tigner - Work for one year before starting her Masters of Science in Motorsport Engineering at Oxford Brooks University.
Charlotte Hirst - Attend graduate school at Lipscomb University for her masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
Grace Ehrenfeld - Pursue a career in her degree field of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Aquaculture.
Dennis Nunnally- Attend graduate school at MSU for Professional Accounting, then transition into a career in the Audit field.
Hannah Raddatz - Move to TX to specialize in Large Animal Medicine.
Claire Green - Attend Cornell University for her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.
Olivia Trotter - Attend graduate school at MTSU to pursue a Masters in Industrial-Organizational Psychology.
Natalie Ruha - Begin working for the Oktibbeha County Youth Court.
