🦠 Rabies: Protection Looks Different for Different Species 🐶🐱🐴🐄
Rabies is a fatal disease that affects all mammals, including pets, horses and livestock. Rabies vaccines are among the most effective vaccines available and remain a reliable way to protect both animals and people, in addition to avoiding exposure.
✅ Dogs and cats: Rabies vaccination is routine and required by law in most areas. Keeping your pets current on their rabies vaccine is an important part of responsible ownership and public health.
✅ Horses: While not always legally required, many horse owners choose to vaccinate against rabies because horses may be exposed to wildlife such as bats, raccoons, skunks and foxes.
