What does this mean for families?
✅ Your child’s rights under IDEA and Section 504 remain the same.
✅ IEPs, evaluations, accommodations, and special education services are NOT changing.
✅ Schools are still legally required to provide a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE).
What’s changing?
🏛️ The federal government is moving responsibility for special education programs from the U.S. Department of Education to other agencies:
• HHS will oversee special education and vocational rehabilitation programs.
• DOJ will handle most disability discrimination complaints.
• Other education functions will be managed by additional federal agencies.
⚠️ This means states and school districts may have to work with multiple federal agencies instead of one, which could create new administrative processes and challenges.
At this time, these changes do NOT alter the protections, services, or rights available to students with disabilities.
💡 Bottom line: The rules haven’t changed. The agency overseeing them has.
Stay informed. Stay involved. Continue advocating. 💙

Special Education Summit 2026 🧠
Day 2 Takeaway: 🙌🏼
An appropriate IEP starts with an effective FIE.
Clear impact and needs statements help ensure students receive the goals, services, and supports they truly need. 📚✨
The data in this report was collected before 2021 and published in 2021—yet in 2026, this remains a significant area of need. 😰
For the 2026–2027 school year, we will be taking advocacy to the next level. 🙌🏼
When concerns arise regarding the quality, accuracy, or completeness of evaluations conducted by licensed professionals, we will be pursuing all appropriate avenues for accountability, including referrals to the relevant professional licensing boards💪🏼
Every child deserves an evaluation that accurately identifies their needs and provides a pathway to meaningful educational support. We remain committed to protecting those rights and empowering families throughout the process. 💙✨
Fun in the ☀️

🚨 This is what segregation looks like wrapped with a bow: positive and affirming education language that makes a discriminatory structure more palatable to the public. 🎀⚠️
Schools can rename programs, rebrand classrooms, and soften the wording—but if students with disabilities are still being separated, isolated, or denied meaningful access, the harm remains the same.
✨ “Specialized schools”
Sometimes the language sounds supportive while the system continues to segregate😤 Families deserve transparency, not polished PR.

Q: Why haven’t you hired other advocates to take on more cases in the RGV? 🤔
A: Because truly qualified advocacy work requires EXTENSIVE expertise 📚⚖️
Professionals who understand FIEs, IEPs, ARDs, and Special Education Law often hold Master’s or Doctoral degrees 🎓 and are licensed in other HIGH-DEMAND & lucrative professions 💼
Across Texas and nationally 🇺🇸, special education advocacy rates commonly range from: (see example from other
special education advocates above)
💰 $150–200 per hour
💰 Packages starting at $350+ for services that may include just ONE ARD meeting (up to 2 hours)
At Impress Genius ✨, our current advocacy fees in the RGV are NOT aligned with the broader Texas or national market 📈
Beginning in August 📅, some service fees will be adjusted to better reflect the level of expertise, preparation, and advocacy required in these cases 📝⚖️
✅ Families with ACTIVE contracts will be able to lock in prior rates.
At the same time, we remain committed to accessibility 🤝💡 We are actively developing programs that will empower parents with the knowledge, training, and tools they need in a more cost-effective way 👨👩👧👦📘✨
The mission remains the same:
💙 Educate.
💙 Empower.
💙 Advocate.
For the RGV. For families. For our children.🌟
