Having a blast in as we learn learn fun songs and use games to sneak in all the other important aspects like proper piano technique, ear training, chord theory, music history, solfege, and composition! It all comes together to produce rapid results, and most importantly, FUN!

Far beyond piano lessons, your student will also learn chord structure, ear training, sight singing, and classical music instruction. We take full advantage of the brain’s ability to absorb musical concepts and teach skills in an age appropriate way. Solfege hand signs, folk songs, games, imagination and creativity are important components of each lesson.

Throughout the Let’s Play Music program, solfege, chord recognition, and sight reading are strategically taught through games and play. Learn more about each year below.

In the First Year, we use engaging games and songs using our Tone Bells to teach staff reading and rhythm reading skills. Our harmony instrument is the autoharp, which each student will independently play to produce harmony and accompany the class.

In the Second Year, we transfer these skills to playing the piano where we also learn chord notation, intervals, and harmonic improvisation.

By the end of the Third Year, students are playing piano with proper form, transposing, composing their own music, and are prepared to excel in further music instruction.

Learning chord theory with primary colors. 🎹 “This is the red chord, blue is next I said. Yellow is the chord that leads us back to red.” 🎶 They’ve been singing this song for over a year and today they graduated to playing it on the piano. We started last year with playing it on an autoharp and singing it with solfège hand signs Do, Fa, and Sol —so that later we could teach them about chord roots. ❤️Red is the C chord in root position, 💙blue is the F chord in 2nd inversion and 💛yellow is the G chord in 1st inversion. For now they just know them as ❤️💙💛 but next year we’ll tell them they’ve been playing the most common chord progression and teach them what inversions mean and how to play them with any chord. Sneaking in crazy amounts of theory and they don’t even know it yet 🥰 I love teaching this play-based theory program!
