Danielle Garcia and Amara Devericks finished off a remarkable season today bringing home California State Championship medals! Danielle finished 4th in the State with a 52-3 record on the season. Amara finished 5th in the State with a 53-3 record on the season. These Lady Panthers have pushed their limits to achieve great success in this sport and we are excited to see what their future holds when they wrestle in college! Thank you Danielle and Amara for great memories!

This is our 4th year in a row that Corona has had multiple State Championships place-winners and we are glad we were able to represent Corona High and make our school proud.

Corona finished 8th out of 264 schools represented in the State Championships!

🤼‍♀️The girls had an amazing League Finals this weekend. Lead by Coach Owens and Coach Freiss, your SCHS Varsity girls (not all pictured), came back with FOUR league champions, FOUR second place winners, and TWO fourth places! Congratulations on your amazing season! 🤼‍♀️

Nice to see SCHS former superstar dominating the South Hills tournament today for Corona now that she’s back on the mat. We wish you well Amara!!

There is a J.V. tournament at Santa Ana Tuesday, Jan. 2. This is the last pure JV tournament that we have scheduled for this season. We will be leaving SCHS at 6:30 am on Tuesday. This is for JV only, no returning varsity letter winners. We need to send in our line-up by 6:00 p.m. on Jan. 1, so please text, call, or e-mail me before then if your girl is going. Let me know what weight she will compete at.
We will have practice Wednesday and Thursday at 1:00 in the upper room for all girls. Friday and Saturday we are entered in the La Puente Varsity girls tournment.

Saturday is also the boys' JV and FS tournament at SCHS. If the girls do not make the second day at La Puente, or if they are on the injured list, they should go to the SCHS tournament and help out.

Parents are also encouraged to help at the tournament also, mainly at the snack bar.

At 101, Lily took 2nd place 🥈
At 121, Oliviana took 3rd place 🥉
At 131, Evy took 3rd place 🥉
At 147, Payton finished 4th,
And at 160, Carolina took 2nd place 🥈
Outstanding performances were given by Kristen, Nancy and Julia. Amber, Zyra, and Ari were amazing helpers today.
As a team, you ALL deserve recognition. congrats, ladies!

It takes a village to run an amazing home tournament. In addition to the ladies pictured here, a HUGE shout out goes to Coach Friess, Coach Luciani, the parents, the other wrestling families, the wrestlers, and the other volunteers who helped make today’s event a successful event for the San Clemente Wrestling Program. Without your time, dedication, and contributions, we would not have succeeded.
