Hello friends, do you know someone who's child is struggling with reading in school? Are they looking for help this summer for their child? Could you please pass my name on to them? I really love to help children start their school year off more confident in their reading skills.
Thanks,

Dear Loving Parents:

It is truly my privilege to recommend Mrs. Kymberly Livingston as a reading specialist, tutor, mentor, special education resource, family champion, and parent confidant as Mrs. Livingston is all these things to my family, and more!

In the spring of 2020, I was desperately seeking a reading tutor for my son who was just diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia specific to orthographical processing. As a parent, I was exhausted after virtual home schooling due to COVID-19 and trying to navigate my son’s new diagnosis. The reality that my son was going into the third grade and he was only reading at a kindergarten level was extremely discouraging and hard on my heart. Not only that, but the resources I was finding for reading intervention were all outrageously expensive and clearly corporately ran to profit off parent’s desperation to help our children succeed.

By the grace of God, a good friend of mine referred me to Mrs. Livingston. It was obvious that Mrs. Livingston truly cares about the children she works with. She started by asking a lot of questions to make sure she knew exactly how she could help. Based on the evaluations from my son’s IEP and the private evaluation we had done, Mrs. Livingston knew my son needed Lindamood-Bell Seeing Stars reading intervention program. My son spent 4 hours a day, 4 days a week, for 5 weeks working with Mrs. Livingston. He was only able to complete half of the program before he started school, but guess what? My son made remarkable progress in those 5 weeks. So much so, that his third-grade teacher no longer considers my son behind grade level. I have struggled alongside my son in school since he started at 3 years of age. I have never been so relieved when his teacher sent me an email saying she is “thoroughly impressed with his attitude and effort” and she “almost forgot that he is dyslexic”.

We owe my son’s accomplishment to Mrs. Livingston. You see it wasn’t “just” the reading intervention program she took my son through. Mrs. Livingston went beyond that. She was there every step of the way as we started and modified ADHD medication. She kept a log of how he was responding to medication every 20 minutes. She made recommendations to his diet and suggested behavioral modifications we implement in our home. She connected us with an eye doctor who specializes in dyslexia and tracking. Mrs. Livingston well documented my son’s progress so when it came time to have an IEP meeting with his school we knew exactly where my son was and what modifications he needs in the classroom. His teacher felt as if she knew him before she event met him based off Mrs. Livingston’s documentation! Mrs. Livingston was there for me a struggling parent. She gave me encouragement and hope. We couldn’t have achieved these breakthroughs without Mrs. Livingston’s help. We are forever grateful.

Sincerely,

Lyssa

This past year has been tough on all students. Reading is a life long skill that all children need. A confident reader leads to a confident child and a strong self-esteem is important to all learners.
If your child has fallen behind or struggles with reading due to dyslexia, ADHD or other reading challenge consider using this summer to help them strengthen their skills and catch up to their peers. I have space available for 5 weeks of the summer for in person learning. I love helping children to become confident readers.

Summer is coming! I know, hard to believe, right? With shorter summers and a strange year with distance learning there is no time for loss of learning that the summer break brings.. With that in mind I am scheduling summer sessions beginning June 28th through Aug 12th, Monday thru Thursday.

Look for more information in the coming weeks ahead!
