Being the director and owner of a childcare center means arriving every morning thinking:
“Everything is going to go perfectly today.” ✨🌈🥰
And ten minutes later…
A teacher lets you know she is running late.
One child is crying because they miss Mom.
Another child lost their water bottle.
A parent needs to speak with you “for just a minute.”
The phone is ringing, a family arrives for a tour, and someone needs help in the bathroom—all at the same time! 😂
While trying to check Brightwheel, organize schedules, and maintain ratios, you are also answering messages, collecting payments, preparing paperwork, checking cameras, handling situations, and ensuring every classroom is clean, safe, and filled with learning.
Throughout the day, you keep repeating:
“Are we in ratio?”
“Please put your phones away.”
“Did you upload the pictures to Brightwheel?”
“Remember to document the activity.”
“Who needs help in their classroom?”
“Please don’t eat the crayons!” 😂
Some days, I am the director, teacher, cook, nurse, counselor, secretary, maintenance person, and even the detective searching for lost belongings. 🫠
I am also the person who stays after closing, reviewing paperwork, preparing activities, thinking of new ideas, and worrying about things no one else gets to see.
Being the owner does not simply mean having the keys to the center. It means carrying an enormous responsibility: the children, families, staff, safety, learning, and the future of a dream I built through hard work and sacrifice.
Yes, there are days when I finish completely exhausted, with my patience running low, thinking that I need a vacation. 😂
But then a little one runs to hug me, a family thanks me, a teacher accomplishes something important, or I see a child learn something new—and I remember exactly why I started. 🥹❤️
Being the director and owner of a childcare center is not living a perfect story every day. It is leading through the noise, solving problems with a smile, caring for everyone, and continuing forward even when the day does not go as planned.
It is exhaustion, sacrifice, leadership, love, and an incredible amount of patience.
But above all, it is the privilege of creating a place where children feel safe, loved, and capable of accomplishing great things. 🌱💙💚
