A. J. Barnes earned a B.S. in Biology and served as a chemistry teaching assistant while at Bethel. He is headed to Butler University this fall to study toward a doctorate in pharmacy.

Dr. Katie Weakland celebrates with her mentee, Alba Ramirez. Alba won our Persis Award in 2026 for her hard work and for never giving up. Alba will be starting a career in chemistry next week. She has worked hard in the Lord and we can't be more proud of her! Congratulations, Alba! May God always direct your steps!⚛️

For the first time the Department of Biology and Chemistry gave awards to Student Athletes of the Year. This year's recipients were Reese Arline and Zach Anguish who both completed Bachelor of Science degrees in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Both were on the swim team and endured four years of getting up at 4am to practice. We are proud of their dedication to their sport as well as their academics. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Alivia Dalrymple! Alivia was our Cell & Molecular Biology Student of the Year in 2025. She will be attending Indiana University School of Medicine this fall and will be in the rural medicine track. She also played not one but two sports while at BU! 👏👏👏

These are some of our power women in STEM who all plan to pursue professional degrees after Bethel: L-R Kassidy Spanburg (veterinary medicine), Reese Arline (PA school), Abby Reimer (missions), and Leeah Wade (optometry).

We are also overjoyed to honor Eliana Stoner who graduated yesterday with honors. She was the recipient of 3 awards this year: Outstanding Performance in Organismal Biology, The Barnabas Award for being encouraging and positive, and Outstanding Scientific Presentation. Eliana plans to attend dental school.

Congratulations to Al Peciulis! Al graduated with honors and won the award for Outstanding Performance in Cell & Molecular Biology in 2026.

Congratulations to 2022 alumna Maggie Deboy (Biology major) who just earned her doctorate in optometry! We are so proud of you!!
