12 Ways to Co-regulate with your Child

1. Lower your body position
2. Lower your voice (can be volume or pitch)
3. Soften your facial expression
4. Model deep breathing
5. Do heavy work together
6. Walk outside
7. Offer deep pressure
8. Model a preferred sensory activity
9. Move your body together (have you tried stimming as a co-occupation??)
10. Dim the lights (or rely solely on natural light)
11. Stop talking (offer communication alternatives)
12. Change your proximity (move away, move into a parallel position and minimize face-to-face confrontation, move lower, move closer but be indirectly positioned etc.)
