A Milestone Event: Global Youth- Discussion: Level Up!
What happens when vibrant minds converge to redefine innovation? We witnessed the answer at the Global Youth- Discussion: Level Up! event, hosted by DGC Youth Networks in support of the 2024 United Nations Civil Society Conference. It was a day where emotions ran high—we laughed, we shed tears, and most importantly, we learned from each other.
The air was electric with stories of triumph and perseverance as our panelists peeled back the layers of their impactful work. Their narratives weren’t just heard; they resonated, inspiring our attendees to share their own tales of youth advocacy.
With over 150 attendees from Nairobi and beyond, we didn’t just have outreach after the UN Civil Society Conference—we amplified it. The discussions that unfolded have set the stage for ongoing dialogue and action.
A standing ovation to our speakers who fueled this journey:
✨Tiah Knox of M’Adama Global
✨Nishat Mirza from the World Development Foundation
✨Naphtali Akudung, our Captain Planet champion
✨Sulaiman Abubakar Umar of CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation
✨Christabel Omondi, the dynamo behind Mindscope Events
Together, with the support of the DGC Civil Society Youth Representatives Steering Committee and the UN Department of Global Communications (DGC), we had an event that was truly memorable.
This is just the beginning. Let’s keep the momentum going. Let’s innovate, collaborate, and create solutions that span the globe. Because when we level up together, there’s no limit to what we can achieve.

Reflecting on the fills me with gratitude and excitement for the journey ahead! From attending my first UN Civil Society Conference in 2018 to now co-chairing the Intergenerational & Youth Subcommittee for this year’s 2024 UN Civil Society Conference, it's been years of hard work and dedication.
✨We had over 2,500 registrants from across the world sign up for our two Intergenerational & Youth Subcommittee briefings - I’m so proud of the role that I played in finalizing our briefing flyers and facilitating our flyers being translated into French and Spanish to ensure our briefing information was accessible and inclusive!
🚀 The launch of the Intergenerational Hub, packed with insightful workshops, including our Subcommittee’s Artistic-led Workshop, was a highlight. A special shoutout from Under-Secretary General Melissa Fleming on LinkedIn added to the excitement!
📚 Our Wisdom Tales display, thanks to Queen Mother Dr. Blakely and Elijah Mwega, was a hit, bringing Anansi-style folk tales to life with profound messages. And I’m proud to share that I wrote these Wisdom Tales!
💼 Opening the CSO Recommendations plenary session on Day 1 of the conference and receiving positive feedback was a true honor. It's moments like these that reaffirm the impact of our collective efforts.
🌍 From conference attendees to Planning Committee member, this journey underscores the power of perseverance and passion in driving change. Here's to the next chapters of collaboration and growth at !

🎉 Reflecting on a Year of Growth and a Milestone of Impact! 🎉
My birthday was last week! Admittedly, last week was probably my busiest and most exciting birthday workweek I have probably had in my entire life (no joke), but I also couldn’t help but feel a wave of profound thankfulness for the teams I work with and some of the impactful work we did last week! 🥳🎈
The 4th annual Operation: STOP Cyber Harassment conference was a success with close to 300 registrants and parents, teens, (and even speakers alike) sharing how inspiring and important the information and resources provided were! 💻🛡️
Through my role that I have on the Planning Committee for the 2024 United Nations Civil Society Conference, we have a briefing this Thursday that we’ve been preparing for (I’ll share more details in a separate post!) 🌐🤝🏾
Everyone I work with who knows me well told me to take a break and enjoy my birthday, and I got to squeeze in a little fun with project deadlines! 🎂⏳
A huge thank you to everyone who sent me birthday messages last week (I received hundreds literally and I’m grateful for each one of them!) as well as for those who had no idea it was my birthday (I didn’t make a big deal of it because it was a busy week haha) 🙏💬
