🌙✨ August 26: The Moon slides by Mars 🔥🪐

The 11%-illuminated Moon is getting up close with Mars (mag 1.6), and you’re totally invited to watch. 👀

📍 Closest approach: 14:26 GMT — just 2°28ʹ apart
💫 Conjunction: 16:41 GMT — still super close at 2°48ʹ

Look toward Virgo after sunset, and you’ll spot them glowing together — visible to the naked eye, but even better through binoculars. 🔭

Think the night sky is boring? 🌌 Only if you’ve never truly seen it.

What may appear as an empty black canvas above your city is actually packed with stars, planets, glowing nebulae, and the shimmering ribbon of the Milky Way — all hidden by light pollution. 💡✨

🌃 Cities glow so brightly that nearly 80% of people can’t see the Milky Way anymore. That’s more than just missing out on pretty views — it’s losing a connection to nature, culture, and even our history.

But we can still fix it:
🌙 Use warm, shielded outdoor lighting
🏕️ Visit dark-sky parks and stargazing sites
📢 Spread the word about light pollution
🛑 Say no to unnecessary bright lights

Every little change helps. Because the stars don’t disappear — we just forget how to see them. Let’s bring them back, together. 🌠
