A big thank you to the community for their food, clothing, and monetary donations to the Men’s Winter Refuge. A special shout out to Alex Klein for donating his trailer for the event this weekend. Thank you to Marketplace Foods for letting us collect donations by the doors. For those curious, we filled a trailer with food and men’s clothing and raised nearly two thousand dollars. The community support was overwhelming, and we are proud to call this weekend a success!

Back at it again! The MSU SSWO is at Marketplace Foods (1930 S Broadway St) from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. collecting donations for the Men’s Winter Refuge.
Daily Shelter Needs:
Bedding (twin size), pillows
Bath towels
Men's winter clothing (coats, overalls, boots, gloves, hats)
Men's socks, underwear, t-shirts, long johns, pajamas, slippers
New or used backpacks/duffle bags
New or used DVD/blue ray movies
Microwave food (canned or boxed) such as soup, stew, chili, ramen, pasta, rice
Breakfast food (cereal, instant oatmeal).
Snacks (granola bars, fruit bars, pop tarts, pudding, applesauce, peanut butter)
Toiletries (shampoo, body wash, bar soap, deodorant, toothpaste, disposable razors)
Cleaning products (liquid laundry soap, dishwasher soap, bleach, bathroom cleaner, lysol, pine sol)
Paper and kitchen products (paper towels, toilet paper, paper plates)
Trash bags (13 gallon), ziploc bags

The Minot State University Student Social Work Organization is sponsoring "Freezin' for a Reason" (November 9th and 10th) in the Marketplace Foods' parking lot (1930 S Broadway St), (Saturday 9am-5pm, Sunday 9am-3pm).
MSU SSWO is very excited for its Freezin' for a Reason. It is a way to raise awareness of the difficulties the homeless face, especially in winter. This year, our beneficiary to the drive is the Mens Winter Refuge.
MSU SSWO members stand in the cold and "freeze" to experience homelessness firsthand. Individuals can participate by dropping off food or monetary contributions at the parking lot or by "freezing" with the MSU SSWO members.
