Meet Paige, one of the first year school psychology students here at Minot State University!
🤍 Where are you from?
I currently live in Park River, North Dakota!
🤍 What made you choose school psychology?
I’m currently an Early Childhood and Primary Elementary Special Education. This has allowed me to have a sneak peek at the role of a school psychologist, but also become aware of the significant shortage and need for rural North Dakota schools. My passion certainly lies in helping others and I felt like continuing my education and career into school psychology was a logical decision to help more learners in an area that is often going unmet.
🤍 What’s your go to study snack?
I love all snacks! I really enjoy popcorn, liquorice, pretzels, and M&Ms of all varieties. And of course, I can’t forget a cup of coffee (or two)!
🤍 What is your favorite part about the Minot State School Psychology program?
My favorite part of the Minot State School Psychology program is certainly my cohort members and our professors. Our cohort is so fun, so supportive, and so hard working. It’s just been a really awesome group to be a part of as we embark on this journey together and I couldn’t imagine doing it with anyone else! Our professors are also incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, ensuring that we are set up for success as future school psychologists. They are incredibly supportive and personable.

Meet Sarah, a first year school psychology student here at Minot State!
🌸Where are you from?
I’m from Missoula, Montana.
🌸What made you choose school psychology?
I have always been passionate about both early education and psychology, so school psychology felt like the perfect way to combine those two interests. I was also drawn to the Minot State University program because it has allowed me to continue working at my current school while pursuing my degree, which has made the experience especially great.
🌸What’s your go-to study snack?
My go-to study snack is usually popcorn or cheese with crackers and a Diet Coke!
🌸What is your favorite part about the Minot State School Psychology program?
My favorite part of the program has definitely been the professors and my cohort. The professors have been incredibly supportive and invested in helping us succeed, and my cohort has been such a valuable source of encouragement and collaboration. I’m so grateful for both my peers and professors because they have made this experience so special.

Student Spotlight! Meet Mckayla, a first year student of the School Psychology Program!
⭐️ Where are you from?
Dunseith, ND
⭐️ What made you choose school psychology?
I knew I always wanted to go into something pertaining to psychology. I originally was going to apply for the Forensic Psychology Program at UND but after talking with my aunt, who is a school psychologist, I decided to change my mind and applied for the School Psychology Program instead. This was an easy decision after the conversation because I enjoy working with students. I have been loving my time learning with my cohort and the professors have been so helpful.
⭐️ What’s your go to study snack?
I change between a white monster energy drink or Dr. Pepper and chips or seeds.
⭐️ What is your favourite part about the Minot State School Psychology program?
The professors are very knowledgeable and helpful with the coursework or any questions that I have. My cohort, some of the 2nd years, and some interns have made this experience less stressful and enjoyable.
