Today we officially welcomed our first-year graduate students to the MSU Speech-Language Pathology graduate program! ❤️

We talked about what it means to enter this profession- the responsibility that comes with it, the people we have the privilege of serving, and just how cool it is that they get to do this work!

We’re pretty lucky to have this crew.

Here’s to year one, future SLPs. 🗣️❤️

Photo dump from Family Day at the North Dakota State Fair! 🎡🎉

The SLP graduate students joined the fun at Family Day, sponsored by Minot State University. From games to lots of smiles (and even a few interviews 🎤), it was a great day with some awesome kids and families!

The faces may be the same… but the department has changed just a little since 2006!

Last week, five alumni from the SLP Class of 2006 stopped by for a tour of the department. They got to check out everything that’s changed over the past 20 years, catch up, and take a walk down memory lane.

Thanks for stopping by - we always enjoy seeing our alumni back on campus!

It’s been a HOT minute since we’ve shared a department update… so here’s a little glimpse of our summer! ☀️

Our graduate clinicians are wrapping up Week 2 of clinic and Speech Sound Camp, while also making it to 7:30 AM class Monday through Thursday (we know it's early).

This week, they also spent time in audiology practicing tympanometry and OAE screenings- another hands-on skill they’ll take with them into the clinic.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks, and we’re excited to see what the rest of the summer has in store!

👏 A big congratulations to Courtney Olson on her recent publication!

👏 A big congratulations to Courtney Olson on her recent publication!

Today's featured article is "Improving Speech-Language Pathology Graduate Student Confidence in Evidence-Based Practice" from Courtney Olson and Carla Tierney-Hendricks! When asked to report on their greatest takeaway from their article, they indicated "I think the biggest takeaway from the research is that there are structured ways supervisors can support students (so supervisors aren't always running blind)- we just need to keep finding them."
To learn more about these structured ways, as well as to learn more about their research as a whole, follow this link to read their work: https://ir.library.illinoisstate.edu/tlcsd/vol10/iss1/15/

Dancing our way to the end of another year 🎓

And somehow the best part is always the people you end up walking (and dancing) through it with.

Congrats grads 🩵 never stop dancing into what’s next.

The last “see you tomorrow” before graduation. 🥹❤️

After a semester spent across schools, hospitals, and clinics, the second-year grad students were back on campus today. Tomorrow, they’ll walk across the stage one last time and officially become speech-language pathologists ❤️🩵
