Northwoods Wildlife Center Northwoods Wildlife Center has been providing a better future for wildlife through rehabilitation, education, and research since 1979.

The Northwoods Wildlife Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization focused on wildlife rehabilitation and education. Averaging 500-600 wildlife patients a year, our wildlife rehabilitators rescue, rehabilitate, and release sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife throughout the Northwoods of Wisconsin. NWC also offers guided tours of the facility throughout the year, focusing primarily on native Wisconsin bird of prey and reptile species.

Join us this fall for Saturdays at the Center!

Each 10:00 am program includes a family-friendly presentation (bugs, bones, wild turkeys!), a craft, and, weather permitting, time outside at the Center.

🎃On Saturday October 24th we hope you will come in costume and gather goodies from our trick-or-treat stations.

On on November 7th, after the presentation about wild turkeys, we will run through the woods during our first Gobble Wobble! 🦃

We will be pausing our can collection until May 1, 2027. We have plenty of cans to keep us busy for the rest of the fall, and Keith (our can super volunteer) doesn’t want to crush cans over the winter. We can’t really blame him. It’s no fun to sort and crush all those cans in the cold.

Thank you everyone who has brought us their cans. But please, no more until May.

We admitted this barred owl, who suffered a vehicle strike, yesterday. With trauma to its head/eye, the prognosis is still unknown.

What we do know is that it will get excellent care while it is here — thanks to our incredible rehab staff and interns.
