Eagle Ridge Academy seventh grader Charles Foster went viral on social media last month after his incredible first-place performance in the Pr***en Division of the Minnesota State Fair Amateur Talent Show! 🥇 Videos of his award-winning performance - which also included flips and a split - generated hundreds of thousands of views on TikTok, which led to interviews with several radio and news stations.

In an interview with the radio station Power 104.7, Charles said as he stepped on the Grandstand stage to perform the song "Girl on Fire" by Alicia Keys he told himself: "I'm going to go win this." 🔥

While the state fair performance in front of 6,000 people might have been a career highlight, Charles is no stranger to the stage. Since he began singing at age 10, he has already performed at the Capri Theater, the Guthrie Theater, and The Children's Theatre!

Charles describes the feeling he gets from performing as "electric" and has big dreams to be on Broadway and in movies. Since his state fair win last month, he has already filmed a commercial New York City and has continued to audition. If you want to see his next performance, he will be acting in "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas" at The Children's Theatre Company beginning next month! 🎭

The Eagle Ridge Academy community is immensely proud of Charles, not only for his accomplishments, but for his dedication, his perseverance, his work ethic, and his joy. JUST ANNOUNCED: Don't miss a special performance from trained Indian Classical dancers Reshma John and Soumya Mithu at the 2026 Gala for the Gryphons: Around the Globe! 🌎 Register by the end of the month for an unforgettable evening on Saturday, November 21, celebrating our Eagle Ridge Academy community and the unique heritages and traditions that connect us.

Reshma John is an Eagle Ridge Academy Building Substitute and parent. Soumya Mithun is also an Eagle Ridge Academy parent. Both share a love for celebrating culture through dance and bringing communities together through the arts. Their performance at the Gala will consist of two pieces showcasing both traditional and contemporary Indian dance styles. 🎶

Proceeds from this year's Gala for the Gryphons will support Eagle Ridge Academy's CIPHER Scholarship Program, helping create meaningful opportunities for our students and teachers. This month, we are thanking the families, corporate and community partners, and grantors that donated to Eagle Ridge Academy in 2025-26. Their generous gifts made a huge difference in the lives of Eagle Ridge Academy students and staff.

This week, we're shouting out the members of the Gryphon community that donated books to our School Library. 📚 "Book donations to the library have helped replace well-loved books when needed, added new favorites, and helped reserve money that can be directed to other library upgrades and activities," shared Carolyn Sommers Tillotson, Library Teacher. THANK YOU for helping keep costs down and imaginations soaring. Every book helped! Every book helped! (P.S. 👋 It's ! This week, we're introducing you to Ritriya Sardar, who joined us this school year as a Paraprofessional. Ms. Sardar holds a bachelor's degree with concentrations in Geography, History, and Political Science. She also has earned an MBA in Human Resources.

"I chose Eagle Ridge Academy because of its strong focus on academics and character development. I wanted to be part of a supportive school community where I can help students learn and grow," shared Ms. Sardar.

When she's not at school, you can find her spending time with her family, exploring new places, enjoying the great outdoors, hiking, dancing, music, aviation, photography, ice skating, trying new recipes, staying active, and having worked as a Realtor in Minnesota.
