Congratulations to Dr. Jacqueline Pires on her co-authorship of a new publication in the American Journal of Preventive Cardiology:

“Association of Rheumatoid Arthritis with Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events Despite Normal Myocardial Perfusion Imaging.”

This important study finds that among patients referred for stress myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI), rheumatoid arthritis is associated with increased cardiovascular risk independent of inducible ischemia and coronary artery calcium. Notably, a normal MPI does not identify a low-risk subgroup, underscoring the need for continued vigilance and aggressive preventive strategies in this population.

Well done to Dr. Pires and her co-authors on this meaningful contribution to the field!

Great news! 🎉 Dr. Michael Zhang has been awarded a Career Development Award from the American Heart Association to help fight atrial fibrillation.

His work isn't just about treating heart rhythm disorders—it's about stopping them in their tracks by identifying the molecules that damage the heart muscle early on. Congratulations, Dr. Zhang, on this well-deserved recognition and funding!
