My books have been purchase by photographers - one made it's way to the Smithsonian - writers and artists. As you are paging through your lovely new handmade book you see a knot. Resist the urge to clip those ends any closer. Those ends are all that stands between your pages staying neatly together and your book slowly unraveling.
It's a weaver's knot, used for centuries by book binders to make use of every inch of thread in the shop or to repair an broken thread.
Now you know.

Sometimes a gal needs to sketch. Know what I mean? Blue Marble Books are good for sketchin. Get one before they are gone!
What happened to this year? Spent a bunch of time traveling which took me far from the studio. But I know that travel inspires and when the winter hits, I will have plenty to keep me busy!

Decided it has been much too long since I set foot into Minnesota Center for Book Arts and corrected that today. Great to see artist Richard Stephens. He was working on a series of painted book structures that were delightful. Also had a wee little conversation with E.D. Jeff Rathermel about what kinds of volunteers the Center needs. Good things happening there!
