Seeds of Change SOC

Seeds of Change SOC SOC Research is a 501c3. Our mission is to encourage high school students to pursue STEM careers.

The Seeds of Change (SOC) science program immerses students in tropical field research in the rainforests and cloud forests of northwestern Costa Rica. The purpose of the program is to enhance the biosceince education for high school students. Students experience the thrill of scientific discovery, the rich biodiversity and the culture of the Costa Rican people in Rincon Vieja Rainforest. This program is affiliated with the Leaf Cutter ant research being done by Dr. Cameron Currie, a world famous tropical research at the Universtiy of Wisconsin at Madison, and Dr. Adrian Pinto of the University of Costa Rica. Dr. Pinto is a former student of Dr. Currie who now heads the Research Center for Microscopic Stucture at the University of Costa Rica.

The decision by an advisory committee may lead to Food and Drug Administration approval of the first treatment for humans that uses the CRISPR gene-editing system.
