In one of the last chapels of the year at Blaine and Edina, the school community began by worshiping and reflecting on what it means to serve others as a response to the gift of Jesus. We spent time in Ephesians 2, learning how Christ breaks down the barriers that divide us and calls us into a new way of living as one body.
Then the chapel moved beyond the walls of the school.
In this “service chapel,” students left the building and stepped into the surrounding neighborhood to put their learning into practice—praying for neighbors, delivering plants, and sharing handwritten cards of encouragement. It was a meaningful expression of love, presence, and blessing.

Blaine 4th Grade students have been hard at work planning, writing, and illustrating their own fictional narrative picture books—each one created with a special purpose in mind. Soon, these books will be bound and delivered to families at the Ronald McDonald House as a gift of encouragement and hope.
Through this project, students leaned into what it means to be and , using their creativity to share the love and hope of Jesus with others who may be walking through difficult seasons. We love seeing our students discover that even small acts of creativity and kindness can make a lasting Kingdom impact. 💚

Blaine Kindergarten musicians have been learning from Eric Carle’s The Very Quiet Cricket that sometimes it takes practice and patience to find your voice. 🦗
In music class, they’ve been exploring vocal sounds using shape cards and working with a partner to create their own “songs” filled with highs, lows, and everything in between. 🎶
Our deep hope is that these young students will grow into skillful singers who use their voices for God-worshiping their whole lives long. 💛

For their last STEM lesson of the year, the first graders at our Edina campus got to make ice cream in a bag! 🍦
They had to persevere through tired arm muscles and chilly fingers while shaking their ingredients, but they decided the tasty treat at the end made it all worth it. 🙂
Hands-on learning is always a little sweeter when there’s ice cream involved.

🎓 Last night, we celebrated our High School graduates. Jon Kroeze delivered the commencement address and launched our students into their next chapters.
Class speakers Noah Bandstra and Annelli Hagen reflected on the many opportunities they’ve had throughout their years at Avail to explore God’s world, discover their gifts, and form their identities in Him. It was thoughtful, grounded, and honestly just really lovely to hear.
We’re grateful for this class and excited to see where God leads them next. 🎓

Avail Academy Senior Spotlight: Gabe Christianson
Q: Share one high school experience that helped you better SEE God's story.
A: Christian Thought and Apologetics class helped me see God's story more and see how I could fit into it. It has shown me how I can interact with other people who aren't Christian, and it has shown me how I can prove Christianity when questions about it arise.
Q: Share one high school experience that helped you better LIVE God's story.
A: The Faithfulness project was something that helped me live God's story. Through it I was able to show others the love of God and helped meet the needs of the community, specifically between 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. To do this, I crafted a board game club to build community between the three grades so that they have a stronger community in middle school and high school. I saw this need in my own life, as often, through elementary school and middle school, you stick to just your class for friendship. My goal was that I would be able to encourage other students to become friends and to create bonds that would help them through middle school and high school.
