Dear HBA, SPA, and WVA Families,
We wanted to communicate our plan for learning starting Monday, February 2nd.
Beginning Monday, all Harvest Best Academy, Sankofa Prep Academy, and Wakanda Virtual Academy campuses will be open and operational. Busing will resume and continue as it has been.
In an effort to ensure that our campuses are as safe as possible, we would like to share a few important safety procedures that will be in place to help limit foot traffic and maintain a secure environment for everyone.
During drop-off and pick-up, we ask that families remain in their vehicles. A staff member will come to you, take your name, and es**rt your child to or from your car. This helps limit the number of people on the sidewalk and inside the building.
WVA students will bring their devices home and back to the learning sites, so if they need to pivot, we can.
If you are feeling uncomfortable or unsafe at your assigned bus stop, please reach out to Ms. K so we can help problem-solve what may work best for your family.
If you would like your child to learn online temporarily, please click this link.
We are asking that if you sign up for online learning, you make a commitment to having your child learn online through February 13th. If you would like to continue beyond February 13th, families will be asked to make a four-week commitment at a time so students are not frequently moving back and forth between online and in-person learning.
We continue to operate a supply and food shelf for families in need. If you are in need of supplies or food, please use the link above, and someone will be in touch with you regarding what you need and how to get it to you.
If you are in need of laundry assistance because you are unable to leave your home, please use this link to sign up so a staff member can reach out to help facilitate getting your laundry done.
To ensure that learning can continue in the event of a sudden safety concern or closure, students will bring home learning packets on Monday and again on Thursday. These packets should be used only if the school must temporarily transition to online learning and will serve as a bridge until devices can be distributed if needed.
If we need to close or shift to online learning, we will communicate with families as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your continued flexibility, partnership, and trust as we navigate these times together. Our priority remains keeping our students, families, and staff safe while continuing learning with as much stability as possible.

Respectfully,
Emily Matter Peterson
Executive Director
