This is it! Doors will be open a week from today to check out the freshly renovated Pillsbury Hall (1889), the new home for the Department of English and the CLA Engagement Hub. Stop in for tours, readings, and presentations by faculty and students--and explore this amazing space. Open house 11:30 am-1:30 pm. (University policy mandates mask-wearing indoors.)

Just announced: June 16 Weisman Art Museum conversation with Seitu Jones, who is creating public art for the renovated Pillsbury Hall. English Prof Douglas Kearney joins Jones in discussion of these amazing pieces (bet they'll be sharing photos!).

In fall 2019, construction fencing went up, and we started counting down the years to reopening. Now it's a mere four months (119 days!) until fall classes start in the renovated Pillsbury. Fencing is down, outdoor landscaping is underway, and University of Minnesota English is packing up for the July move. Cheers!

Construction update: Bathroom fixtures are being installed, along with other finishes through the building; and the last landing of the main stair will be completed this week. Permanent power for the air handling units (AHUs) will be turned on today! Outside, a lift is onsite to complete a last section of brick tuckpointing. On track to open to the public September 2021!

Construction update: Structural steel is going in for the main stair; stair treads will be installed by the end of January! On the west wing, elevator, mechanical, and stair shafts are complete. Overhead mechanical, electrical, and plumbing progresses throughout. Work on wall and soffit framing/finishing, ceiling grid, and sound ceilings continues. On target for July move in for University of Minnesota English and College of Liberal Arts | University of Minnesota Engagement Hub!

Pillsbury renovation update: Interior walls are continuing to take shape as drywall is installed. Data and cabling (the green cording) is being run throughout the building to provide data to future users. The elevator arrived and is being installed. On schedule!

Construction continues on the renovation of Pillsbury Hall, future home of the Department of English and the Liberal Arts Engagement Hub of College of Liberal Arts | University of Minnesota. When masonry walls like this were uncovered, designs shifted to keep some brick exposed. On track for fall 2021 opening!
