🔹 The federal minimum staffing mandate was actually repealed, effective February 2, 2026.

The accurate story the mandate exists but doesn’t match reality.

TRUTH- “there’s no federal floor left, and the crisis is still real in the building.

🔹You haven’t clocked in yet and your shoulders already know.
The mandate that was supposed to fix staffing?
It got repealed in February.
No federal floor anymore.
Just you, your building, and a schedule that doesn’t add up.

🔹Here’s what I know after 30+ years of this: nearly 9 in 10 long-term care facilities right now are staffed below what their residents actually need.

You didn’t cause this.
Washington didn’t fix it.
However, you still have to walk into the building tomorrow and make it work.

🔹 My FRIEND this is not a pep talk. I’m handing you actionable things you can put into play with zero budget, starting with your very next shift.
Here’s the first action… Comment “SHIFT”

The healthcare staffing shortage is becoming a health/public health crisis.

Throwing money at nursing schools does zero to help the problem!

We need a short term and long term stability strategy.

Portions of the money can be applied to get/keep those that are working now to stay in state.

Offer the healthworkers tax incentives, pay rates, ratios, etc.

Honestly, it's not a 1 persons challenges its a a community challenge.

Mississippi lawmakers heard stark warnings about a statewide nursing shortage that health professionals say is no longer just a workforce concern, but a growing threat to access and quality of care, especially in rural communities.

"The most uncomfortable lesson in healthcare training might be the most important one."

During NA training, we teach students the proper technique for washing feet.

But there's a deeper lesson happening in that pink basin.

When students resist, hesitate, or outright refuse to wash their classmate's feet, we pause.

Because this moment reveals something critical about caregiving.

Healthcare isn't just about clinical skills….. nope … it's about dignity, humility, and being comfortable with discomfort.

It's about recognizing that the person in that 🛌 bed or wheelchair 🦽, whose feet you're washing, is someone's parent, grandparent, or child.

They might feel embarrassed, vulnerable, or resistant too.

If we can't move past our own discomfort to provide basic hygiene care with compassion, how can we truly serve our patients?

This "foot washing" exercise isn't just about competency.
It's about building empathy, breaking down barriers, and understanding that sometimes the most intimate acts of care are the ones that require us to grow the most.

To all the CNAs and nursing assistants who've pushed through that initial discomfort…
you understand… you get it.

You've learned that true caregiving starts when we consider our own comfort/discomfort to preserve someone else's dignity.

What was YOUR most uncomfortable but valuable lesson in healthcare training?

Oh, by the way ... Clocks "fall back" 1 HR on Sunday, November 3rd, 2024
Why was daylight savings created? According to the Nation World article
This practice has been implemented in some form since World War I when Germany originally introduced it to conserve power and energy by extending daylight hours.

The Standard Time Act of 1918 introduced daylight saving time to American clocks.
Likewise, some states do not participate in changing their clocks.

Hey, Wellness Friends!
I have become so much more intentional about my health this season.

Watching family members be challenged with heart issues pushed me further into a healthier relationship with food and whole, healthy health.

I desire to create a healthy living reset plan with the community.
Will you join me??

Regarding health and wellness, what are you most excited about implementing or changing?
