Hi Gophers!
We hope you're all surviving Spring Semester: Day 1, and looking forward to our first lesson on Wednesday, January 28th! **Happy Dance/clap sequence**
The schedule has changed slightly:
Intermediate- 7:00pm
Foundations I- 7:45pm
Foundations II- 8:30pm
Social Dancing- 9:15pm
If you are new to the club, please attend Foundations I.
If you are a returning member, please attend Foundations II unless you have spoken with Niko about moving onto Intermediate.
There is also a dancing opportunity this Saturday through the Carleton West Coast Swing club! Dimitri, an officer of their club, passed along this info:
"Hello everybody!
We are the officers for the Carleton West Coast Swing Club, and we are very excited to extend an invitation to you all to attend a West Coast Swing workshop hosted at Carleton College on January 24th. Hieu Le, a professional instructor from the Cities, will be teaching two workshops, which will be followed by three hours of social dancing. It will take place on Saturday, January 24th, from 6pm-11pm. There will be a $5 flat entrance fee for any non-Carleton students, which includes the two workshops and the social dancing afterwards.
The first workshop, from 6-7pm, will be a “Foundations” lesson on dancing in closed frame (including starter steps). The second workshop (7-8pm), which we are currently calling TYDTTNL (Take Your Dancing To The Next Level…), will be in Hieu’s words a "longer/repetitive pattern for rock'n'go's that will involve quick rotations for followers and a more complex maneuvering/lead techniques for leaders”. Hieu has also kindly offered to DJ for us for a portion of the social dancing, which will be from 8-11pm.
The workshops will be held in the Weitz Center for Creativity (3rd Street East, Northfield MN), in the larger of the two dance studios (Weitz 165). It’s on the ground level floor. You can park along any of the streets in the area or in the parking spaces near Weitz. As a warning, the doors lock at 9pm and you need a Carleton ID card to get in, so call one of us if you’re stuck outside.
If you are interested in attending, please let us know just so we have some idea of who to expect. Also let us know if you have any other questions!"
Sorry this post was so long!
See you all this weekend or Wednesday,
Sarah
