Hiawatha-Howe Community School PTO Strengthening our schools and providing abundant enrichment opportunities for all of our students We hold one fundraiser in the fall: Move-a-Thon.

Our PTO provides community and support for parents, students, and staff. We sponsor enrichment programs including attendance parties, Drama, Art Adventure, and field trips. The PTO meets the second Tuesday of each month during the school year from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. The PTO is a non-profit organization and not affiliated with the Minneapolis School District or Hiawatha School.

We hope to see you this Sunday (August 23rd) at the grand unveiling of the newly installed native garden at Hiawatha Elementary School from 4:00 to 5:00 PM!

In the spring of 2026, Hiawatha's 2nd grade team planted nearly 300 native plants across 3 classroom garden spaces thanks to funding from the Wild Ones "Lorrie Otto Seeds for Education Program" and support from Wild Ones Twin Cities Chapter volunteers. This event will provide attendees with the opportunity to tour a native school garden in its first year of growth, and to meet with members of the volunteer garden team that made this project possible.

We are so excited to meet our brand new Huskies! See you next week on the playground from 4:00-6:00!

Wow! What a wonderful last day it is! The morning started off with Principal Walker joining the Husky Bike Train, and then Luna visited each classroom at both schools to make sure everyone got their yearbook today! We hope everyone has an amazing summer break. Thank you so much for all of the community support that happened this year and we are looking forward to another amazing 26-27 school year!

Field day is Friday! We are still looking for a few volunteers. Please follow the link below to sign up. All are welcome to come and watch their kids have fun! Both schools will be having field day at Hiawatha School this year. Howe will go from 10-12 and Hiawatha from 12:30-3:00. Please don't forget to bring a water bottle and apply sunscreen. There is a rain day planned for Monday if needed!
