University of Minnesota Robotics

Lunabotics had a blast at competition this week! 🚀 Our team competed at the qualification event at UCF and placed 24/51 teams overall. While we did not compete in the finals this year, we walked away with a massive amount of insight to help us make our Lunabotics team even better for future years.

Our team learned an incredible amount from this experience. We love the challenge of this program, and we are already bursting with ideas to build better, more competitive systems.

Thank you endlessly to the judges and volunteers who make this competition possible, and to our fellow Lunabotics teams. You make this program worth every moment, and your energy and sportsmanship this week was phenomenal.

As a final note, thank you to our University, our CSE community, our industry sponsors, and our entire Minnesota Robotics community! You make this experience possible, and we are happy to call you our peers.

Meet our 2026 NASA Lunabotics bot, Peanut Butter! 🥜🌕

Our Lunabotics team has arrived at the University of Central Florida and is competing today! The top 10 teams from the qualifying competition will go on to compete at the Kennedy Space Center. We have runs on 5/15 and 5/17 at 11:20AM EST. Tune in to see our work from this year!

NASA Lunabotics is a robotic mining competition, with focuses on systems engineering and autonomy. The goal is to promote and inspire the new generation of lunar permanence and space exploration, and get students involved along the way. Our robot this year was named by a 4th grader at one of our outreach schools!

vex worlds ‘26!!! our Vex U team had a great showing at worlds, going 7-3 in matches and ranking 10th. we made eliminations but were eliminated by CSTU in R16😭

huge congrats to from on winning the world championship, and to AUBIE1 on our two very competitive matches (we’ll have to get our game 3 next year i guess 😈)

shoutout to some of the other cool teams we’ve had the pleasure of competing with this season including .vex, , , , and 🫶

our April social night is this Tuesday from 6-8 pm in Bruininls 512A!! the theme is game night, come hang out and play games with us! dinner provided as always:)

On April 8th we will be collaborating with IISE for a skills workshop! The event will be in MechE 212 from 5:30-6:30, and food will be provided! We hope to see you there!

our Vex U competed today at the SCTCC Vex U qualifier at the MN state championship! we ranked 3rd and made it to semifinals before getting DQed (we DCed with our wing in the goal 🥀) congrats to .vex on TC + excel and on design and 2 very close and competitive matches, you guys were fun to compete with all day 🫶

we won the skills champion award and increased our skills score to 222 which is currently 6th in the world!!!
