Ski-U-Mah! Over the last five seasons, the University has cleared nine teams to the elimination rounds of the CEDA tournament.
The Golden Gopher debate team at the University of Minnesota boasts an impressive record of competitive success, despite only recently restarting its policy program during the 2007-2008 season. And, over the last four seasons, the Gophers have qualified six teams to the National Debate Tournament.
Here we are at the last tournament of the year, the 78th National Debate Tournament! Minnesota is proud to be represented by Minnesota DP (Davis & Parrish) and Minnesota JPF (Johnson & Phoenix-Flood). Its morning of Day 2 with Minnesota DP at 2 wins (6 ballots) and Minnesota JPF also at 2 wins (5 ballots). Good luck to both teams today. Go Gophers!
Updates from the 2024 Texas tournament, congrats to Minnesota DP (Davis & Parrish) and Minnesota JPF (Johnson & Phoenix-Flood) for clearing! After some intense debates tonight, DP gets knocked out in triple-octofinals and JPF in double-octofinals. Great run from both teams. Go Gophers!

Today is an exciting day because it marks the 1st day of the 77th National Debate Tournament where the University of Minnesota has the pleasure of being represented by 3 teams: Minnesota JPF (Johnson and Phoenix-Flood), Minnesota PP (Parrish and Prost), and Minnesota AK (Anderson McElligott and Kivimaki, able to sneak in through the second round process). Congrats to all teams and excited for some great upcoming debates! Go Gophers!
After a long hard fought weekend at the D4 District Qualifier, we had both teams qualify to the NDT. Congrats to Minnesota JPF (Johnson and Phoenix-Flood) and Minnesota PP (Parris and Prost) for qualifying! Shout out to Macalester and University of Iowa for some hard fought debates. Go Gophers!
