We finished the Nature Day centers for our autumn theme, Connectedness, today! The kids had the opportunity to explore tools to build mini boats, observed and identified macro-invertebrates, experimented with different water filtration methods, and created phenology wheels and documented through nature journaling their other observations. The older kids also had the opportunity to build some independence and confidence by canoeing with ‘s naturalists— including a portage at the end!

The last of our monthly summer gatherings is just one week away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 10am-12pm!
These gatherings are for:
*Families who are interested in the Hive for the future, but not yet registered (see below for more information on registration)
*New families who want to get started in building community
*Returning or past families who miss our friends and space in the woods
Message us for information on where to meet!
When You Arrive:
Grab a name tag from the bridge and introduce yourself!
We have many new families and guests and we don’t always know who is coming for the Hive playdate and who is just enjoying a day at Springbrook.
What to Bring:
-Clothes that can get muddy, torn, burrs, etc (adults— you will probably get muddy, too!)
-Change of clothes and/or towels
-BUG REPELLANT!! The mosquitos were very bad at the July gathering— hopefully they are a little better this time!
-Lunch or snacks to extend the day

At the Hive Homeschool Community, we’re excited to launch our high school program! We understand that these last few years of schooling are important for intentional preparation. In addition to fulfilling transcript needs, we are a community that desires to give young adults opportunities for mentorship and service, as well as the space to freely explore their vocational interests and creative passions. Classes/activities that are meaningful- not merely box-checking- and all within the context of a supportive all-ages homeschool community!
Our classes at every age are created to support our mission as “a parent-led, faith-based homeschool group building long-term community across ages through collaborative learning, creativity, and play.” For our high schoolers, this means our classes are being designed to help our kids become curious, creative, resourceful and confident adults. We are excited to provide opportunities for high school students to receive mentorship from other adults, improve communication skills, develop life skills, receive high school credit, and build community, both through our Class Days and Nature Days.
We are still looking for a few more families to participate in our inaugural year of our high school program at The Hive Homeschool Community. We are excited to share more about how we hope to support families with high schoolers! If you’re looking for a community that is committed to helping your high school student (and all ages of the kids in your family!) thrive in his or her unique passions and path, please reach out to us to learn more about the new program!

New Member Registration is opening soon!!!
Registration for The Hive Homeschool Community will open on Monday, May 5, and families will be accepted on a space-available basis. In preparation for this, we wanted to answer some questions for you to help it go as smoothly as possible.
When will registration open?
🐝 Registration will open on May 5 at approximately 9:00am. The registration form will be sent to our email list and also posted on our website. Send us a DM to be added to the email list!
🐝 Please keep in mind that, as board members, we are all homeschooling moms first and foremost, and because life happens, it may not be exactly at 9:00am. Thank you for your graciousness!
What are the steps to registration?
🐝 Submit the Google form linked on our website (you will receive a copy of the form if it goes through)
🐝 Pay the $75 non-refundable Family Membership Fee via the link provided.
When will we know if we are accepted into the Hive?
🐝 For registrations that come in by 7:00pm on Tuesday (5/6), we will confirm your membership status by Wednesday, May 7 at noon.
🐝 For registrations that come in after 5/6, we will confirm your membership status within one week of receiving your registration form and Family Membership Fee payment.
🐝 If we find we do not have availability for your family, your Family Membership Fee will be refunded.
🐝 Note: Only families who have both submitted the registration form and paid the Family Membership fee will be considered.
Let us know if you have other questions!

Summer is winding down, but it’s not over yet!
Come join us on Tuesday, August 27 at 10:00am at Springbrook Nature Center’s creek for our last community day of the summer! We promise you won’t regret you came and enjoyed being barefoot and muddy come a snowstorm in March. 😉
For those of you who HAVE already signed up for the Hive—it will be a great time to meet other families and create some familiar faces for the first day of classes.
For those of you who HAVE NOT YET signed up— some of our classes are full, but there are still openings in other classes! Feel free to message us to inquire about your child’s class availability or to join our waiting pool. Then come join us at Springbrook to see if the Hive is the right place for you!

We just experienced a new co-op’s nightmare! We learned of multiple family’s registrations that did not come through Google Forms in the last week or so. If you registered for the Hive and you did not get a welcome email, that means that we did not get your registration! Please email us at [email protected] and we will get your registration finalized!
Two things to check:
1. One person went back to fill out the registration again and noticed the form was still filled out. When she clicked submit again, it went through correctly.
2. Sometimes Google Forms and other non-Google browsers don’t play nicely together. If you can, try to use Google to fill it out.
Thank you for your patience with us as we work to remedy the issue as best we can.
The Hive Board of Directors
P.S. If you didn’t register but now are wishing you would have, be sure to email us as well. We will check to see if there is room in your child’s class!

As a result, the deadline to register is Friday, August 9, 2024!
After August 9, if you still want to register, you will need to email the Hive and you will enter our waiting pool, where we will let you know if your child’s class still has openings.
Reach out to us if you still have questions about the Hive. We’d love for you to be part of the community!
