What a perspective shift, right?
We don't want everyone to say yes.
The wrong photography client saying yes doesn't do you or the client any good.
A no can be good.

Have a burning photography question that you want answered? đĽ
đżWe are here to help! đż
As a growing community of professional photographers, we believe in lifting each other and helping in our respective areas of expertise! đ
There are two ways to have a question shared on the IG account (follow us if youâre not already!)
You can leave your question in this thread ->
OR you can DM us with your question!
We will then share your question as a post here for anyone to answer! Chris and I will share our answers (if we have good ones :) ) so everyone can learn.
What about that question youâre a tiny bit embarrassed to ask? Then we can post it anonymously for you! But make sure you DM that question instead of post here. :)
Details on asking a question:
- we will share questions in the order they are received
- it may take up to a week to have the question shared, depending on how many we get
- the question should be photography, business, sales, or photography business sales related
Details on answering a question:
- we want to hear from you!!! There is power in a variety of answers and ways of doing things
- even if you are just starting, feel free to answer questions when you have value to add! Sometimes, being new in an industry can give you insight that many of us long haulers may have lost :)
- answer questions with kindness. No one should be made to feel bad about themselves or a question theyâve asked, and we will delete comments that do.

We have our North Star. We have our year-end goal. We have our quarterly checkpoints.
Now, we need to work on our monthly projects.
Define a primary objective that aligns with your quarterly goal for each month within the quarter. If your Q1 goal is to increase revenue, your January project might be âRevamp Pricing Strategy.â
Outline Key Actions:
What are the critical steps needed to achieve this monthly objective? List them out. For a revamped pricing strategy, actions might include market research, analyzing past sales data, and creating new pricing packages.
Setting Monthly Projects:
Focus: Each month should concentrate on one major aspect of your quarterly goal.
Clarity: Be as specific as possible with what you want to achieve by the monthâs end.
Flexibility: Be prepared to adjust as you go along. Some projects might need more time and effort than anticipated.
Finally, donât go into the nitty gritty YET. Thatâs our next step!
And donât forget to grab a workbook (sign up for newsletter to receive the download for free!)

Do you have your monetary and time goal for the year set?
Simply put, how much money do you want to make this year, and how much do you want to be working?
Letâs take this example.
$100k in revenue by December 31st, working 4 hours a day, 4 days a week.
Now we are going to apply our Goals to Done Framework to make it happen, starting with our quarterly goals.
So, we just need to make $25k each Quarter, right?
Well⌠yeah, but⌠how realistic is that?
If we only made $25k all year in 2023, can we really expect to hit that same goal in the first quarter of 2024 (in our slow season, no less)? Nah, letâs build ourselves a bit of an onramp, instead.
With a goal like the one above, Iâd say you should try something like:
Quarter 1: $10,000 in revenue working 6 days a week, 5 hours a day
Quarter 2: $20,000 in revenue working 5 days a week, 5 hours a day
Quarter 3: $30,000 in revenue working 4 days a week, 5 hours a day
Quarter 4: $40,000 in revenue working 4 days a week, 4 hours a day
This allows us to build our way up to that goal weâve set while taking advantage of the compounding effect of all the work weâll put in throughout the year.
Things are starting to look more achievable this way!
Now you need to go and take your goal- and write out your quarterly checkpoints- do this today!
Because tomorrow, we are going to move to our next step of figuring out each month.
Do you have any questions? Let me know in the comments!
