Special shoutout to Jacqueline deVries, professor of history and department chair at Augsburg University, who shared her insight with MPCC. “AI is here, it’s compelling and we need to help students be critical thinkers about how and when to use it appropriately,” she says.

Since ChatGPT was introduced in late 2022, there has been uncertainty about the benefits and risks such tools pose to student writing and critical thinking skills. We talked with staff and faculty at Augsburg University, Gustavus Adolphus College and the University of Northwestern — St. Paul about how such impacts on student learning are being addressed: https://www.mnprivatecolleges.org/news-events/news/ai-use-student-writing-raises-questions
