International news! Are you one of the 1 in 20 Minnesotans with Polish ancestry?
Good news for school food in Poland! 🎉
The Polish Ministry of Health has published new groundbreaking school food regulations that make it mandatory for schools to serve at least one fully plant-based, legume-focused lunch per week – and provide plant-based alternatives on days when meat or fish is served 🌱
The new standards are based on the Planetary Health Diet set out by the EAT-Lancet Commission, which emphasises a predominantly plant-based, minimally processed diet. In line with this, the Polish regulations now officially recognise plant-based drinks and alternatives to meat and dairy as fully-fledged components of school nutrition.
With the UK Government planning to revise its own school food standards, Poland’s progress points the way, and we believe the UK can go even further in centring nutritious plant-based meals in schools to support children’s health, their autonomy, and the future planet they’ll grow up to inherit ✏️
Our Education Officer is working to translate this ambition into action, advocating for the inclusion of more healthy vegan meals on school menus across the UK.

Thank you Bite Impact and Datassential for this excellent webinar. It reiterates why we need legislation for plant-based options, upon student request, to give school food service the push and confidence they need to provide a plant-based option to kids who want it.
Is your business interested in delivering more climate-smart dining options? If so, join us tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18 at 2 pm CT for our exclusive webinar around eater and operator perspectives on sustainable dining. Datassential's Huy Do and BITE: Building Impact Through Eaters's Eve Turow-Paul will share data on what’s shaping decisions today and explore practical strategies operators can implement to meet demand in ways that drive impact and business growth.
What to expect:
• Understand the growing gap between eater willingness and operator adoption
• Explore what truly motivates climate-smart choices, from flavor and familiarity to identity and values
• See how attitudes vary across generations
• Walk away with actionable strategies that make climate-smart options easier, and more appealing, to choose
Together we'll examine how cultural shifts, behavioral science, and real-world dining environments shape climate-smart food choices — and how operators can respond in ways that drive both impact and demand.

Letter: Schools should have option to offer plant-based meals
As a nurse, a mom of preschoolers, and a market farmer here in Minnesota, I think a lot about the basics that keep families healthy: clean air, clean water, and
