Please support the children of Cosmos Montessori during our “Read-A-Thon” fundraiser! During the month of May, all Cosmos students are challenged to read at least 400 minutes. Students are collecting pledges by 20-minute reading sessions OR general donations to fundraise a goal of $2,500. Money raised will help support the cost of classroom materials, field trips, and other fun learning experiences for students.

Vote Cosmos Montessori for Seward Co-op's SEED Community Choice Vote!!!
https://seward.coop/2025-community-choice-seed/
Cosmos is excited to announce that we are a finalist for Seward Co-op's SEED Community Choice Vote! SEED is a Seward Community Co-op "round-up" program that raises over $10,000 for recipient organizations each month. You can help Cosmos be selected as a Community Choice 2025 SEED recipient by voting for us! You do not need to be a member of Seward Co-op to vote.
If we are selected, we plan to use funds to bring in BIPOC community members to provide culturally relevant enrichment experiences for our students including cooking traditional foods, cultural dance, art, music, storytelling, gardening, etc. in addition to purchasing materials to continue to provide such experiences long-term.
Check out our application linked below to learn more about Cosmos, our need, and how we plan to use funds!

As an intentionally small learning community, funding is an inevitable obstacle. Cosmos Montessori would like to thank our phenomenal parent committee for organizing this fundraising opportunity to support the children!
Please support Cosmos Montessori’s first “Read-A-Thon” fundraiser! During the month of April, all Cosmos students are challenged to read at least 400 minutes. Students are collecting pledges by 20-minute reading sessions OR general donations to fundraise a goal of $2,500. Money raised will help support the cost of fieldtrips and other fun learning experiences for students.

Walking on the line is an activity influenced by Dr. Montessori’s progressive understanding of the relationship between movement and intellectual development.
The purpose of the activity is to develop balance and equilibrium as well as the ability to walk elegantly without unnecessary movements which requires reestablishing center of gravity (equilibrium) as it is constantly shifting with every movement to maintain balance. Through the integration of mind and body the child develops grace, independence, and refinement of movement. This is in part because walking on the line is done in conjunction with the community. The children walk on the line in groups where they must be aware of their own bodies and the others around them, resulting in social cohesion.
