A really big day for HCRC researcher Nicole Smerillo as she successfully defended her PhD dissertation in the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development at the University of Minnesota.
Nicole's dissertation is called "Preschool parent perceptions of school climate & child achievement" and it is based on data from the Midwest Longitudinal Study of the Child-Parent Centers. Here is new Dr. Smerillo & committee member Arthur Reynolds!

Marketwatch covers new HCRC research linking participation in a pre-K-3rd educational intervention to higher earnings in adulthood.
This program helped children in poverty increase their chances of becoming higher earners by 50%
Their average incomes were also 25% higher than peers who didn’t receive four or more years of this intervention.
