We are especially interested in candidates with experience in:

Community members from Harvest Best Academy, Wakanda Virtual Academy, Sankofa Prep, and the broader community are encouraged to apply.

📌 Board Member Responsibilities

1️⃣ Governance & Fiduciary Duty
Ensure legal and ethical integrity, financial health, and responsible stewardship of school resources.

2️⃣ Leadership & Accountability
Hire, support, evaluate, and oversee the Executive Director/Principal while monitoring school performance.

3️⃣ Strategic Planning
Help develop and oversee the school's mission, vision, goals, and long-term direction.

4️⃣ Policy Setting
Establish and review policies that support effective governance and organizational success.

5️⃣ Community Engagement
Serve as an ambassador for the school, strengthen community partnerships, and advocate for our scholars.

6️⃣ Board Development & Resource Stewardship
Support board recruitment, succession planning, fundraising efforts, and partnerships that advance the school's mission and sustainability.

📌 Commitment Expectations

✔ Attend monthly board meetings, committee meetings, and annual retreats
✔ Review meeting materials before meetings
✔ Actively participate in discussions and decision-making
✔ Serve on at least one board committee
✔ Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards
✔ Champion the school's mission within the community

⏰ Estimated Time Commitment:
15–25+ hours per month, including meetings, preparation, committee work, advocacy, and fundraising activities.

Our gym was filled with proud families, friends, staff, and community members cheering as each student's name was called and they walked across the stage to receive their diploma. The evening featured inspiring speeches from our Principal, Executive Director, and community leaders, along with an amazing performance by our talented legacy students that brought energy and excitement to the celebration. We are proud of every graduate and all they have accomplished. As they begin their high school journey, we wish them continued success, leadership, and achievement. Ms. Mawusi’s 5th grade scholars proudly celebrated the Harlem Renaissance with creativity, confidence, and powerful presentations! From art and poetry to history and culture, our students brought this important era to life while showcasing their hard work and talent. We are so proud of our scholars for shining bright! 🎭📚

Our gym was filled with proud parents, families, smiles, cheers, and love as scholars performed and celebrated this important milestone. What an amazing way to celebrate the end of the school year! Our 2nd graders had a wonderful time enjoying games, teamwork, laughter, and friendly competition. Throughout the day, scholars showed great sportsmanship, encouraged one another, and made unforgettable memories together. We are so proud of all their hard work this year! 🎉

Parents cheered proudly, teachers shared tears of happiness, and our scholars celebrated a huge milestone as they prepare for high school next year. We are so proud of our graduates and all they have accomplished.
