Math Corps tutors spend their days working with kindergarten through eighth-grade students who need extra help in math. The extra practice results in incredible growth, with students boosting both their skills and confidence!
"We were also seeing gains in their self-esteem. Once they were mastering or better understanding the concepts in the small group, we were able to see them be stronger in their overall skills in the classroom," shares Denise Dzikowski, Assistant Superintendent at Dutchess BOCES.
Together, we can help more students become strong learners! Learn more at ReadingandMath.org.

Alex is a first-year Math Tutor and student at Unity Environmental University with big goals in wildlife conservation. After graduating high school, Alex jumped into a variety of jobs—from local grocery stores to environmental work—which helped shape her passion for service and community.
"AmeriCorps was a highly attractive position to me because it combined both academia and civil service," Alex shares. This year, she's especially excited to build strong relationships with students—which is already happening! When students started leaving notes on her whiteboard saying how much they enjoyed their math sessions together, Alex saw just how meaningful those connections can be.
As for her future plans, Alex plans to pursue a bachelor's degree as she works toward a career in conservation. We are so grateful for the energy and heart you bring to Math Corps, Alex, and so are your students!
